FCB Scholarships
Barber Family Scholarship
The Barber Family Scholarship was established in honor of FCB’s co-founders, Paul and Fern Barber, to support music education opportunities for students in Farmington and Farmington Hills.
Who is eligible?
9th-12th grade wind or percussion students in their school band program in Farmington and Farmington Hills.
What is it?
Scholarships of up to $1,000 will be awarded based on a recording of an accompanied solo performance and a short written statement. Please see the application for more details.
How do I apply?
Interested students must submit the application and an audio or video recording. Students are encouraged to submit videos of their 2026 Solo & Ensemble Performance, where applicable. Applications must be submitted by 11:59PM on April 25, 2026.
How can the scholarship money be used?
Scholarship money must be used toward music-related costs (i.e. private lessons, instrument repair or purchase, fine arts summer camp, marching band camp, band-related tours, etc.) or for college-related costs.
Recognition
Scholarship winners are invited to play with the Farmington Concert Band and perform their solo piece with piano accompaniment at FCB’s spring concert on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Winners will also be featured on the FCB website and Facebook page.
