About Us

Farmington Concert Band is a community wind ensemble serving Metro Detroit. Founded in 1966, its mission is to perform quality music for others and promote lifetime music education.

music_note Music Director

Damien Crutcher is a native of Detroit and a graduate of Cass Technical High School. He holds a bachelor's degree in music education from Michigan State University, where he studied conducting with Professor Ken Bloomquist and Dr. Ronnie Wooten. He later accepted a fellowship at the University of Michigan with Professor H. Robert Reynolds. Maestro Crutcher is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Crescendo Detroit and Executive Director of Progression, Inc. - programs dedicated to working with young musicians. He is also Director of Detroit Harmony, a Detroit Symphony Orchestra sponsored initiative which seeks to “put an instrument in the hands of every student in Detroit.”

Maestro Crutcher joined the Farmington Concert Band in 2004 and continues to lead the group into the next generation of its fine musical legacy.

Farmington Community Band, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization managed by a volunteer board of directors and supported by a dedicated staff.
