A Holiday Story

The FCB Music Organization presents its annual holiday concert featuring a live reading by WRCJ’s Cecelia Sharpe of “The Night Before Christmas” by Clement C, Moore. Enjoy the narration of this Christmas classic accompanied by the acclaimed Farmington Concert Band for a captivating afternoon of music that promises to inspire, delight, and leave a lasting impression for the whole family. A free copy of “The Night Before Christmas” illustrated book will be given to the first 100 families at the concert. Also featured is an alto saxophone solo by FCB’s own Yoshitomo Aino.

Admission is $10 for everyone 12 years and older. Children under 12 are free.

Ms. Cecelia Sharpe, a graduate of Wayne State University has been teaching and advocating for youth and the arts for over 20 years. In addition to her role as a cellist, educator and advocate for youth and the arts, Ms. Sharpe has a passion for radio. Since 2014 she has been sharing her voice on WRCJ 90.9 FM. Ms. Sharpe serves as a contributing host for the station and produces her program “Live with C#” which can be heard at noon on Sundays. On “Live with C#”, Cecelia highlights a well-rounded and diverse variety of Classical and Jazz music. Ms. Sharpe’s goal is to introduce her audience to a wide range of artists, composers, conductors, and ensembles. 

Ms. Sharpe’s love for radio has opened doors to new opportunities. After years of honing her speaking and communication skills as a radio host Ms. Sharpe now serves as a contributing host and producer for Detroit PBS. She’s had the honor of interviewing noted activists such as Detroit’s own Reverend JoAnn Watson, activist and poet Ms. Nikki Giovanni and most recently renowned bassist Ron Carter. In 2024 she was presented with an Emmy Award and SPJ Award for her production work on Detroit PBS. In addition to radio and television, Ms. Sharpe loves hosting concerts, conducting workshops, and performing as narrator. Notable performances and workshops include narrating with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and serving as Creative Advisor for the Build Institute. Ms. Cecelia Sharpe continues to look forward to new challenges, opportunities and adventures.
